Last pieces of the jigsaw (or very nearly)
By Viv Robins,
Clerk to The Lee Parish Council

Following some nifty footwork at last month’s AGM (otherwise known as co-option), I am happy to report that both Giles Knowles and Stan Carleton-Smith are back on the Parish Council.

dilettante Giles will be well-known to most of you in at least one of his many guises. As the Rural Dilettante his ramblings have long kept Newsletter readers entertained. He is also a member of the committee overseeing the revival of the Village Shop and has master-minded the much-admired renovation of the Lee Common playground (with more improvements to follow). And still he makes time to serve as a governor of Lee Common School and part-time teacher at Dr Challoner’s in Amersham.

carleton smith Stan Carleton-Smith is also well-known in the parish, though too modest to supply me with any further biographical details!

nick rose One other name that will be familiar is Nick Rose, newly elected to Chiltern District Council for the ward that includes The Lee. (He is replacing Parish Councillor Elizabeth Stacey, who I am happy to report was also returned to the CDC, for Prestwood and Heath End.) Nick has lived for more than 30 years at Rose Cottage in The Lee. He previously served on the CDC from 1999 to 2003, and his chairmanship of the Planning Committee for two of those years stood him in excellent stead when it came to laying the plans for the Village Shop, on whose committee he continues to serve.

Meanwhile for the search goes on for a seventh Parish Councillor to take it back up to its full complement. Could that be a knock on the door?
