Church Fête to honour spirit of Olympics
By Catherine Larmour

Let’s hope that the merry month of May is going to be followed by a flaming June this year. Wouldn’t that be just the ticket for a fabulous fête?! Mind you, I suspect that nothing will be able to dampen the fun and games to be had on The-Lee Green on Saturday 14th June…

As it’s Olympic year, our theme is of a sporting nature. Don’t worry – this does not mean that you have to attend the fête dressed in Lycra and running spikes (unless you feel the need to). But the events of the afternoon may well doff their caps to the spirit of the Olympics. Watch this space next month for more details.

As ever, the organisers are on the look-out for lots of things to sell at the fête, and would be particularly pleased to hear from anyone who can donate interesting raffle prizes.

So please: pot up those precious diggings from the garden, and look out all those unwanted toys and books for this vital fund-raising day. Here are the details of the people to contact with all your goodies:
Plants: Mary Stewart-Liberty (837341)
Raffle prizes/ tickets: Tim Hart (837328)
Tombola prizes: Paul Woodhouse (837555)
Children’s tombola: Charlotte Reynolds (793221)
Toys and books: Jo & Steve Wall (837721)
Bric-a-brac (no glasses, lampshades, flower baskets or anything broken – thanks!): Reina Free (837407)
Contact details for cakes and produce in the June issue. For more information, or to offer help of any kind, please call me on 837309.  Thank you.
