50 people from our four parishes attended a service on 10th June at which
Revd David Burgess was formally installed as Vicar of The Lee and Rector of
Hawridge, Cholesbury and St Leonards (for the background to this, see the
Vicar’s article in the June Newsletter). Revd Mark Dearnley, the Area Dean, set this year’s ecclesiastical fashion trend by taking the service in shorts. Just after the start, the Vicar left the church, the door was closed and he knocked at the door; Mark Dearnley, having asked those present “shall we let him in?” and received a suitably positive response, admitted him and the churchwardens presented him with keys to the four churches. Our thanks go to those who provided the refreshments after the service. |
