The Lee W.I.By Joyce Swain
The Lee W.I. met on Tuesday 10th June at the Parish Hall. The President, June Lock, told us of the AGM, held in the new Liverpool stadium, where she had been an observer. The resolution on inappropriate imprisonment of the mentally ill was passed, but the ban on bottom-trawling was not.
Members were asked to support the stall at The Lee Flower Show in July. We hope to visit the Wren Davis Farm in July. Members were reminded of the group lunch to be held at Leigh Porter’s home at Uphill in July.
Mrs Waterton then gave us an amusing account of her experiences on stage in musical comedy in Hemel Hempstead. She began in her teens, but is still going strong despite having lost her sight. An amazing effort!
We concluded with our usual delicious tea.
