As the birds begin to sing once again, it’s time for the Cricket Club to rouse itself from hibernation. After the glorious Ashes campaign, which now seems an age ago, and the ongoing, indeed seemingly never-ending, World Cup, interest in the game is high. We hope to produce our own Alistair Cooks, Graeme Swanns and Andrew Strausses out of our current crop of outstanding youngsters. Nets are taking place at the Misbourne School on Tuesdays between 19:30 and 21:00 and we would love to recruit more players for our wonderful club. We welcome all levels of players with our league sides on a Saturday and our slightly more relaxed Sunday cricket, and junior sides from U10 through to U17. Our Friday night softball cricket for ages 5-10 is now an established village institution, with our bar and barbecue providing the best possible start to long summer weekends. You can find out all about us on www.theleecc.org.uk.
We are excited about the progress of our junior players, who have responded really well to the coaching from a group of qualified coaches. This winter, a group of 17 year old players are undertaking their first coaching courses and we look forward to their input with the junior coaching this summer.
We will be preparing the ground for the summer at the end of March, and look forward to some sunshine and lots of exciting cricket. We welcome social members as well as players, and are keen to recruit umpires too.
