The Lee WI met on Tuesday 8th March at the Parish Hall. After noting the county news, events and offers, including trips to the Downland Open Air Museum and Highclere Castle (aka ‘Downton Abbey’), we confirmed that our ploughman’s lunch would be held on 31st May in the Parish Hall. This is our main fundraising event and we shall be delighted to see all our friends from the village there.
We then had an illustrated talk on ‘Postcards of the First World War’ by Mr Edward Dixon. At that time, postcards were the equivalents of a phone call and thousands were made available to the troops in France.
We concluded with our usual delicious tea.
