Firstly, an apology is in order: in the April edition I omitted to say that the use of The-Lee Green on fête day is, of course, by kind permission of Mrs Stewart-Liberty. Sorry to her for that omission as what a setting it provides for this important and hugely enjoyable annual fund-raiser for St John the Baptist Church! What better back-drop for the multitude of stalls, games and entertainments that will be on offer on Saturday 18th June? Now it’s all systems go for digging out all your best unwanted items for the book/ plant/ bric-a-brac/ toy/ tombola stalls.
But the biggest plea of all this year is for new helpers. We are particularly in need of people who can lead stalls for the afternoon, aided by a trusty team (any takers for the children’s tombola, for example?), and for people to help collect tombola prizes in and around The Lee in the couple of weeks leading up to the fête. A large number of people help to make the fête happen. Do join in if you can! Please call Pam Batty on 863275 if you’d like to help.
Here are a few contacts for the stalls: Bric-a-brac: Nick Batty 863275; Accessories: Bette Brumpton 837246; Cakes for teas: Wendy Robertson 863739; Raffle prizes: Gilly Hafner 837712; Cakes: Catherine Larmour 837309.
There will be a more comprehensive list in the June issue.
