For a small Chiltern village show The Lee Flower Show on 16th July has an impressive amount of ‘silverware’ to be won and this year we have a brand new trophy. It is the William Baxter Trophy and it is for the ‘best sausage roll’. This class is open to all villagers, men, women and children, so start practising your culinary skills, check out the various merits of the sausage meat provided by the local butchers and let’s make sure we have a bumper number of entries to this new class.
Rumour has it that discussions about a well known chef judging the entries are ongoing. So yet another reason to enter, to ensure that the first winners name on this new trophy is yours! We are very grateful to Bill Baxter for sponsoring this trophy, but let’s make sure he doesn’t win it!
A local wag has suggested that a trophy should be presented for the ‘best manure’… and the name of the trophy should be The Philip Hammond Cup! (Apologies to any members of the public who unfortunately share the same name as the Minister for Transport!) If you would like to sponsor this cup please contact the Editor.
