Neighbours from The Lee and surrounding villages certainly knew how to celebrate the Royal Wedding in style on Friday 29th April.
Sixty people congregated at the Cock and Rabbit first thing in the morning to partake of a delicious champagne breakfast cooked by Victoria Parola, before watching the ceremony on one of three screens in the restaurant and bars.
Later in the afternoon more than a hundred residents joined together for a ‘bring and share’ afternoon tea arranged by Pam Garner. The event was marked by a display of flags created by David Jones which included international code flags spelling the names ‘Will’ and ‘Kate’, international flags of many countries representing the cultural diversity of our community (including the flags of Italy, Canada, USA, Ireland, India and many more) and a flag symbolising the letter ‘E’ for Elizabeth, to thank Mrs Stewart-Liberty for allowing the green to be used for the festivities. A great day for our local community!
The residents of Cherry Tree Lane also had a ’street’ party........
