down the lane
By Liz Stewart-Liberty
Some years ago there was trouble down Leather Lane when very large stones, flints and even pieces of iron started to protrude from the bank.
After several people had their tyres, hubcaps, etc. damaged and we amateurs failed to dislodge these hazards the Council came, and with special machinery extracted them, as people whose cars were damaged were going to sue the Council.
Flints still work their way out and it has become advisable not to draw too closely into the bank when allowing cars to pass.
The other bank, known as Fletcher’s Bank, was once one of the biggest badger setts in Buckinghamshire – now due to increased traffic they have all badgered off elsewhere.
