Newly-merged charity Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care (IRGH) is calling on local communities to support its festive fundraising to help give patients facing life-limiting illness across Herts and Bucks the choice to be cared for at home surrounded by friends and family over Christmas, New Year and beyond.
Paul Parrish, IRGH Acting Director of Fundraising and Marketing, explained:
“Imagine how hard it would be to spend Christmas away from your friends and loved ones. Through the services we provide in our day hospice, our support services for families and our 24/7 nursing call out service, we make it possible for patients to stay at home for as long as they choose to, whatever the time of year. But to do this, we need your help as the service costs us over £6 million a year to run and only around 15% of this is funded by the NHS. The rest has to come from fundraising, so by joining in some of our Christmas events this year, you really will be helping to keep loved ones together at this special time. Imagine the difference that can make to a family Christmas.”
