We are over halfway through the autumn term and, as ever, school life is busy and exciting. Many children in Years One and Two are enjoying the new after-school tag rugby club on Tuesday afternoons and all children took part in a fantastic Science Day on the 18th October, with lots of hands-on activities to promote investigative science including magnets, electrical circuits and making wax pictures. We are also pleased to have had eight new pupils join us since the start of term, who are all settling in very well.
Thanks go to Revd David Burgess for the family Harvest Festival Service and for our weekly school assemblies. Thanks also to the school staff for a beautiful Autumn Celebration assembly at church on 20th October, at which the children recited autumnal poems, sang songs and read out their own prayers celebrating and giving thanks for farmers and for the harvest.
The Open Morning on 19th October was a great success, thanks to the children, staff and everyone who helped out on the morning, showing our school and all it has to offer at its best. Lots of families came to look round, all seemed extremely impressed with what they saw and the visiting children were delighted to go home with balloons!
The PTA is busy preparing for the Christmas Fair on Saturday 3rd December, 11 am to 2 pm. Please do come along and join in the fun and festivities, which will include Santa’s Grotto, Gift Alley, refreshments, stalls and amusements. Donations for the tombola are gratefully accepted – please leave donations at the school or call if you would like someone to collect them from your home. Look out for raffle tickets for sale from the School and The Lee Shop soon.
The children are beginning rehearsals for the Christmas play and members of the public are welcome to attend the performance at 10 am on Tuesday 6th December – please contact the school office to request a ticket, as numbers are limited. We also welcome members of the public to the school service of Christmas carols and songs at St John the Baptist Church in The Lee at 9:15 am on Wednesday 14th December (tickets not required).
