newlsettersChurch Fete is musical affair
By Rod Neal, Organising Committee

We are holding the annual fête on Saturday 20th June on The Lee Green by kind permission of Mrs Liz Stewart-Liberty, so please make a note in your diary.

We are having the teas on the Green this year and there will be Morris dancing and some live jazz for your enjoyment. The plant stall is to be re-instated so please sow extra for the summer! Throughout the afternoon the usual stalls and competitions will be there, concluding with the Tug of War and Grand Prize Draw.

Preparation is the key to a successful event and with spring well underway it is time to start thinking about donations and raffle prizes. Begin by ferreting around in the attic or garage for your items for the bric-a-brac stall, pulling out those bags of long-since-read, dusty books for the second-hand bookstall and selecting your choice articles for the tombola.

Please also consider what you can contribute towards the children’s tombola and toys’ stall... and then there are cakes needed in abundance.

The fête committee has re-selected itself as last year (Claire Kotchie, Katharine Stephenson, Rachel and Richard Rolfe and Allan Whittow) and we are always glad to have your offers of help to sell those raffle tickets, assist with the tombola, run the stalls, put up tents and gazebos and take them down again at the end.

At the time of going to press contacts are as follows:

• teas: Wendy Robertson 0777 1845521
• raffle: Jane Neal 837264;
• tombola: Claire Kotchie 837842 or Katharine Stephenson 867617;
• books: Viv Robins 837278;
• cakes and home produce: Charlotte Reynolds 793221;
• children’s toys: Andrea Roberts 863339.

If you can help with any of the above or on a stall, please contact me on 837264.
